I’d like to preface this with a personal thought- Chad Houser is one heck of a nice guy. In the time I have known him, he is always ready to share a smile and a laugh. That alone says a lot about someone in what can be thought of as a cynical world. I love the fact that he is using that and his superior skills to start to change that cynical world.
A few years ago, Chad was asked by a friend to help with a fundraiser for Youth Village and that event eventually led to the opening of Cafe Momentum. Cafe Momentum is one of those unlikely things. What started as a series of pop-up dinners in 2011 with some of Dallas’ best chefs is now a stand alone restaurant with a clear mission: to give teens in a court-ordered residency program a chance to learn about food and service in a nurturing atmosphere. The 12 week internship gives them skills and a living wage, setting them on the path future success.
Chad has assembled an all-star team of chefs and mentors to help teach the interns different aspects of running a restaurant. He also works with great kids who are enthusiastic and do an incredible job of delivering a delicious experience! Their tagline is “Eat. Drink. Change Lives.” I hope you’ll take the time to enjoy a meal at Cafe Momentum sometime in the next month and do just that.
