Tour de Fromage

The lines have been drawn. The major cheese producing areas from around the country and around the world have been placed into their respective vats. It’s time to start a battle royale!

The Scardello Tour de Fromage 2010 is a bracketed competition between major cheese producing areas around the world. Each class will feature a blind tasting of cheese from the two competing areas. At the end of each night, a victor will be crowned and move to the next round. In the end, only one can claim the Tour victory and wear the yellow jersey!

TOUR DE FROMAGE FAQ:

Do I have to sign up for all 7 classes? While you CAN sign up for all 7 events, you are only committing to one evening and the match-up for that evening.

How does it work? We will have 5 to 7 pairs of cheese. Each pair will have a cheese from the 2 regions facing off. We will taste the first 2 cheeses, vote on which one is the best, and then those 2 cheeses and where they are from will be revealed. Then it’s on to the next pair. At the end of the night, the winning region will move on and the loser will have to wait until next year.

Will there be wine? Yes, and sometimes from the regions facing off. The wines will be chosen for their ability to pair with the cheeses.

Can I dress in the traditional garb of my favorite region?Yes, but we ask that you refrain from chanting too loudly and no air-horns.

If I can’t make it to all of the Tour events, can I keep up with the competition online? Yes. We will be posting all of the cheesy details.
